A celebration of Memphis Women-Owned

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” — Jane Austen, “Northanger Abbey”

On certain Mondays in Memphis, a group of women meets. They grab their drinks, some sip coffee, unbothered that it is 7 pm in the evening, others something stronger. There is chatter and hugs and how are yous. But the most prominent question is, “How’s business?”

One replies with a sigh, another with a thumbs down, and a third with an enthusiastic “Surprisingly good this week!”

And the others cheer and congratulate the third woman - because Memphis businesswomen are generous.

On certain Mondays in Memphis, a group of women meets. They commiserate and listen, ask questions and encourage each other, plan and discuss ideas, push each other, pull each other, cry together, laugh at shared misfortunes and mishaps. Memphis women mean business. They also mean friendship - because we ARE better together.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we came up with a list of locally owned Memphis retail shops that are all owned and operated by women. Check out these amazing shops and why these women love supporting other women!
